Our Team of Experts
Kevin G. Staker, the principal attorney in the firm, received his JurisDoctordegree from the University of Utah College of Law, and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation degree from New York University School of Law. Kevin is the founder of the Planned Giving Council of Ventura County. Kevin has three times been a member of the Board of the Ventura County Bar Association, and was the chair of its annual dinner committee 14 of 15 years.
Kevin Staker is one of the few attorneys in the State of California who is both a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law and a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law as certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He has an “AV” (highest) rating by his peers according to the Martindale-Hubbell lawyer directory. Kevin Staker is a member of the board of Ventura County Legal Aid, Inc. and in 2016 was its president. Kevin was honored to receive the Ben E. Brandon Johnson is an experienced attorney with a background in business, he is a principal of our firm, Staker|Rodriguez Law Corporation. Brandon is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law as certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He obtained both his bachelor’s and law degrees from Brigham Young University.
Antonio M. Rodriguez is a bilingual partner attorney at our firm. He helps individuals, families, and small business owners safeguard their legacies through strategic estate planning and trust administration. His practice also includes intestate probate administration and the establishment of probate conservatorships. Antonio earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Master of Arts from California Lutheran University, and his Juris Doctor from the Colleges of Law, Ventura Campus. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2020 and has practiced exclusively in wills, trusts, and probate since his admission.
Antonio serves clients throughout California. Antonio serves on the Board of Directors for the Oxnard College Foundation and volunteers monthly with Swap Meet Justice, a community legal clinic at Oxnard College. He also participates regularly in Attorneys Sharing Knowledge (A.S.K.), a community outreach initiative of the Ventura County Bar Association.
Samantha Koopman is an associate attorney with the firm. Samantha practices in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, probate, and business organization (including 501(c)(3) and other nonprofit organizations). She has her Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University Law School.
Edi Shawn Stiles, associate attorney, received a Bachelor of Science (accounting emphasis) from the University of Southern California, a Juris Doctor (cum laude) from Pepperdine University School of Law, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from New York University School of Law. Ms. Stiles practices in the areas of estate planning, trust administration and business organizations. Ms. Stiles has practiced law for over 20 years with experience in estate planning, trust administration, tax and business planning and compliance and representation before the IRS.
Rebecca Horton is the senior legal assistant with the firm. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and has been employed with the firm since June, 1990. She primarily assists in business formations, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, trust administration matters, and Medi-Cal planning.
Catherine Thommes, Cece Flinn, Sara Hayes, Marielena Soriano are also legal staff with the firm.
